Films & Such
Sutudu
The latest project: an attempt at a total overhaul of distribution in the content industry. The idea: a place for filmmakers to license their films that doesn't take the majority cut of profit. Total transparency, and tools for the creators to be able to make a buyer ready package.
We weren't taught the business side of filmmaking in film school, it's time for a platform that helps the filmmakers with exactly that.

Try acting, it's a hoot
Back in college i did take an acting course that i vaguely recall. So, as it happens my friend and i, the writer director of the first film i shot, we're on our way to the wedding of the lead actor of that very film. We were in Target looking for a gift from the registry.
We were dressed for a wedding, and apparently, looked enough like we worked there for a patron who was looking for help, to ask us if we worked there.
The next movie idea was born: a pair of underachievers who inadvertently start "working" at a store.

A Little Crime of Passion
A fim noir? Run and gun around every major NYC icon? A sad excuse for a lighting kit?
This film was an experience. I pulled out every trick i had to make the most of it, being a scratch budget that my director friend and i somehow got done despite the numerous challenges. But that's all the fun in the process.
On the technical side, we were scheduled to shoot right around the time the very first blackmagic camera was to be released, and i had my preorder. Fortunately, they missed their release date, and i had to pivot to another camera: the Canon C100. This turned out to be the best thing that could have happned, as that camera was much better suited for the needs of this film shoot.

Nowhere, PA
Everyone has to start somewhere, and this is it: The first film i shot with college friends. Was it great? You already know the answer to that. Almost no one makes a great film on their first go, and we were no exception. I'll say this: there's definitely worse films out there.
Making films when you're young is a great learning experience, and it's nice to fail at things when the stakes are low. For instance: i failed pretty impressively one afternoon: we filmed some scenes, got back to the house, and we remarked to each other how oddly well things actually had gone. Then we looked at the dailies: The sound was gone.
It's great to laugh about these things years later, i say don't suppress, don't forget, just keep learning and improving and enjoy the misstep memories
